1,200 Officers Searching for Convicted Killer David Sweat

Crews are searching an area along State Route 30, between County Route 41 in Malone, and County Route 26 in Duane. After Matt was shot, investigators set up a perimeter in the area to try and corner Sweat, state police told ABC News.

It's up to a second Upstate New York prisoner still on the run to decide whether to surrender peacefully or to resist and possibly be gunned down by authorities as was his fellow escapee, a sheriff said Saturday.

Richard Matt — who once vowed never to be taken alive — was fatally shot during an encounter with border patrol agents Friday about 30 miles west of the prison he escaped from with David Sweat on June 6.

Sweat remained on the lam Saturday and about 1,200 searchers focused intensely on 22 square miles encompassing thick forests and heavy brush around where Matt was killed.

Police hoped the solo escapee would finally succumb to the stress of little sleep, scant food and biting bugs.

I don't think I need to remind everyone to avoid the North Country or heading towards the New York\Vermont border. This is a very bad situation that can only get worse IMO. Cop killers are always more reckless & violent to deal with compared to your bread & butter typical convicts are.
