Tort means Civil Offence like throwing garbage in front of one's house or making noise at midnight-- such civil offences-- which are punishable in India under Law or Tort.

Does unlawful imprisonment or malicious prosecution qualify as a tort in India?

[Can government be guilty of a tort? Or does that all fall into civil law? Here, blending law and equity into One Form has created an interesting situation where Criminal causes are nearly indistinguishable from Civil causes. The People of the State, and the United States of America appear to be civil litigants.]
