There was a Taco Bell Case, in the mid-'90's kind of like this. That was a young man thinking (being taught) that the SSN was the mark of the beast. His dad handled it in administrative letters though and got him a summer's paycheck for working one day. The Taco Bell application for employment read (optional) for many years.

This case here is surprising because there was no mark being placed on the hand or forehead. So I guess it was just a mistake on the part of the employer's attorneys, thinking they would be able to adequately defend.
