I came across a rather neat defininition going through an old dictionary at the Library. It is from the Dictionalry of Early English dated 1955. The word was monetary. The dictionary said see "comminate". So I looked up comminate and about half way through the definition it said the following:
"monetary means relating to money - which is probably from Juno moneta, the warning Juno, in whose temple grounds the Roman mint was established. Thus while the love of money is the root of evil, money in itself bears a warning."

Hmm...different.

Be well
