Thread: Credit Union told me they will not accept my checks with a “restrictive endorsement”

When going to the employer's bank with paycheck in hand, "allodial" had some wisdom in choosing your words regarding payment of that instrument

If your payroll check is drawn on a different bank than your bank then might be why you would be "Cashing it" at your bank. But if the check is drawn on the same bank you are aiming to get $$ from, then they are paying the check not CASHING it. If you think this is about splitting hairs: THE ABOVE IS SPELLED OUT IN BANKING TEXTBOOKS. The impression is that if at a bank you say you want to cash a check that is drawn on their bank --they might treat the transaction as if the check were drawn on a different bank "BECAUSE YOU ASKED FOR THAT SERVICE" and because you didn't use the 'magic words' "I am presenting this to your bank for payment" or the like.

I don't endorse the back of a check at all anymore. I sent the bank a statement to the effect of, "All transactions on these accounts are intended to be redeemed in lawful money by demand". The bank balked and fussed...so what. The demand was made.

    How about that?

It would seem you have a lot of explaining to do with the tellers on payday, waiting for them to figure out what you are saying. But if you enjoy teaching as much as I do...

    Kudos!!

It's like Michael Joseph says on a 'coffeetalk' -- "it's for tax purposes" lulls everybody right back to sleep as nobody's boat has been rocked.

You're bases are covered.....you made the demand

My bank negotiates these checks ... even without a signature:
