    Thanks Dave, I should have given a better background as to what happened in my case. I forgot to sign and date the 2019 returns and the state only sent me a form to sign and date and also another form showing they "corrected" my return. They chose to ignore my demand and proof of redemption. I'll add this last tidbit how I tried to resolve the matter "in good faith".

    Variations

    Thanks for showing us about it!

    To me, watching multiple suitors on the brain trust, and those beyond who get insight about Title 12 USC 411, these are variations on the same strategy. Primarily California seems to have a Franchise Tax Board in authority, with no direct connection to the federal return. So the IRS agent/attorney sets back with delays while the state plays dumb about redemption.
