I only recently learned that the Parliament of England was a legislative AND judicial body.

The House of Commons ceased hearing petitions in 1399.
The House of Lords (Law Lords) had their court jurisdiction abolished/transferred in 2009

A judiciary body has always held quasi-legislative powers.

    Check this out!

    Parliament of the United Kingdom

Prior to the opening of the Supreme Court in October 2009 the House of Lords also performed a judicial role through the Law Lords.
    Crazy, huh?
You never hear anything about either a judiciary or legislative body possessing both judicial and legislative powers simultaneously ....

Might get those who believe in separation of powers or those who have grievances against "legislating from the bench" excited .

If you think about it, U.S. Congress has a quasi-judicial power which is used at times.
