Maintenance of Conquest By Syncretism (Promotion of Religious Harlotry)
It was a tactic of the Babylonians, Romans and/or Assyrians to upon conquest to absorb the religion of the conquered--that way things didn't seem to change and the conqueror was seen to control/own the 'gods' of the conquested. Could the Romans believed that by killing Jesus or the like they would own the God of Israel? Perhaps they felt comfortable taking liberties with interpretations and revisions of texts --until they started realizing they were dealing with something over their heads. Interestingly enough, Simon Magus thought he could buy the Power. Maybe the same Romans that deified him figured they could absorb or annex God or the Power of God? A student at a major midwestern Roman Catholic school told her parents that they were taught the Roman Pope to be higher than God (of the bible)--perhaps that somehow relates to the foregoing?

    Re: Pyramids at Sakkara/Succoth
The pyramids at Sakkara appear to be purposed for storage of grain as emergency provision during a long-term famine. That might be why there are so many.

    Egypt, Ethiopia and India
Genesis IMHO tends to point toward Egypt having been on the right path at some point until eventually came into play and idol worship--the Moses' conflict with the Egyptians and with the Pharaoh always seemed to have an underlying doctrinal conflict going on in the background and in the foreground. Maybe something like the new doctrines in the royal courts started getting them to err by thinking of themselves as the God and to be All In All rather than a god?

Kings were given their 'franchise' for a purpose. The consequences of getting too big for their britches is a theme that seems to run through the entire Bible. Perhaps the Egyptian magicians thought their magic was evidence of something it wasn't.

Also, I wouldn't be so quick to come to any conclusion of someone having been enslaved necessarily being partisan with respect to Egyptian politics. Clearly Joseph's religious beliefs played a major role in his experience and to the extent he was able to help many.

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. Matt. 5:45
Even if Joseph may have had an aversion to one or more aspects of Egyptian society, perhaps he remembered that the sun rises on the evil and on the good and that rain is sent on both the just and the unjust. On that note, I'm not convinced of Sun worship being a theme of the Bible. The Sun and the stars and such can be studied as a model for the spiritual in that the physical Sun helps provide light and such on the physical side and thusly consideration of such might give rise to the notion that on the spiritual and mental levels there is a correspondent light of truth or wisdom.

Believers spread out and interspersed even among believers in darkened societies might be like stars keeping the darkness from being utterly dark. There are true believers in places that are there for the reason that God wants them to be there to be the light and to make the positive difference. Joseph being sold into slavery worked together for his good and for the good of others.
