A second edition of the Monitor was issued in Providence in 1802 and he became a member of St. John's lodge. He was elected to all the high offices in the Grand Lodge of the State—Junior Grand Warden in 1802; Senior Grand Warden in 1803; Deputy Grand Master in 1811, and Grand Master in 1813. In 1801 he was elected High Priest of the Providence Royal Arch Chapter, and held many other positions of high honor in the Order. The establishment of the Grand Encampment of Knights Templar was his crowning Masonic labor. In 1815 he removed to Boston, and died suddenly in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 6, 1819.
