    Has anyone tried redeeming FRNs for Treasury notes or bonds from a bank?

    Good question. I read a convincing account that the Federal Reserve banks no longer even speak to citizens from the general public. I will guess that "state" banks will only hand you Federal Reserve notes.

      You can still make the demand for lawful money in US Treasuries, right?

      So long as you have documentary proof of the demand when passed to the bank.
