This is curious - there is a different definition for debenture depending on whether it is North American banking, or British banking. I wonder if that is because of the trust relationship between the Crown and the Fed?

If you will note, one is the opposite of the other.
In America, a debenture is an unsecured loan.
In Britain, a debenture is a bond backed by assets.
My filter contains a paper by Michael Edward, from way back. He told me that he was receiving mysterious calls requesting that he scrub it from the Internet and that where found, it was being edited. So he gave me an original copy of the file:
