    IRS sends "MISS YOU" letter. circa 1988

    This particular fellow did not respond. Nothing untoward happened. Hasn't paid income tax for awhile.

      did he receive any information returns?

      the question is does he receive any information returns that are also sent to the irs.
      if he receives no information returns...W2s, 1099s, etc... then there is no problem....
      there is no paper attached to his name that requires a balancing of the books by the agency.

        Well, if you look at bottom, it appears the fellow was in the system as receiving about five thousand in wages. Maybe someone can decode that ...

        W = wages
        TI = taxable income
        AG = adjusted gross
        WH = withholding?

        My guess is they just let it go as not worth the time & effort. The withholding amount shows they already had two hundred or so of his money anyway.
